The Laboratory of Genomics and Viral Ecology (LaGEV), affiliated with the Health Sciences Center of the Federal University of Espírito Santo (UFES), began its activities in 2023.

The laboratory is dedicated to the investigation of human, animal, and environmental viruses, integrating approaches from genomics, ecology, and viral evolution. Research conducted at LaGEV contributes to public health surveillance and to the understanding of outbreak and epidemic dynamics, with a focus on producing high-impact scientific knowledge and training qualified human resources.
